But the players should remember that these strategies do not assert your odds for wining. They only provide solutions for trying and winning these games. There are instances when no poker strategies seem to help you win because your opponent probably has a breakthrough for the applied strategy. Common poker mistakes
Poker mistakes can often result in a loss of thousands of dollars. Hence it is important that these mistakes be avoided. Some of the common poker mistakes are-
- Playing suited hands
It is always good to have a nice hand especially an ace high straight or even set of kings. Those who are trying to chase this smug feeling with J 4 of spades should understand that this would be a total waste of time and money. If there are additional holes in the cards like in Omaha then the chances of getting defeated are even higher.
- Trying to protect your blinds
There are various books and players which suggest protecting your blinds. But this should not be done because these blinds are like the entry fee for the game. Being in big and small blinds is a part of the game. There are instances where other players at the table fold the game and one person raises the blind. But by protecting the blinds you are trying to get yourself defeated. Protecting blinds should not be the reason for staying the hands.
- Playing with a good starting hand on missing the flop
Having a good starting hand is a moral boos. But there can be hands like J 6 off suit or even pair of gives. But if your bet out with the big slick and the flop comes to J 9 2 then you have missed the flop. It is best to lay it down in such instances. If you have a chasing hand while the opponent has a straight then all odds are against you.
- Bluffing weaker players
Bluffing weaker players should be done only if you are a weak player. Usually no weak players like to lay down their hands. Since they lack the knowledge and ability of the odds they usually keep chasing the winning hand and hence this should be restricted.
